When Should You File a Claim?
It’s important to know when it makes sense to file a claim and when it might not be necessary. If your home or belongings are damaged due to an event covered by your policy—like a storm, fire, or theft—you’ll want to file a claim as soon as possible to get help with repairs or replacement costs. However, for smaller damages that might cost less than your deductible, it could be beneficial to cover those out of pocket to avoid impacting your claims history.
